Over these years, Motech has been expanding solar expertise across the value chain to give our customer the advantage of international sourcing and manufacturing. Being the largest professional solar cell manufacturer in the world, Motech offers enhanced solar cell technology to customers with better quality and operational efficiency.

Building upon our expertise on instruments and PV cells design and manufacture, Motech established Motech Power Division in 2002, concentrating on the design and engineering of PV systems. The purpose of Motech’s involvement in PV power system business was to promote the use of solar energy as well as reduce the pollution from electricity generation. In 2003, “Modern Technology for a Sustainable World” became Motech’s slogan, emphasizing our belief on maintaining a sustainable environment. In 2004 Motech began developing PV inverters, a key component for PV systems; our inverters are ranked at the highest efficiency according to the California Energy Commission’s List of Eligible Inverters. In January 2012, Motech sold the assets of the Test and Measurement Department under Motech’s Instruments Division to B&K Precision Corporation ("B&K") in order to fully concentrate on the development of solar technologies and business.

Motech’s headquarter and business units are located in Taipei, Taoyuan and Tainan, Taiwan. We also have subsidiaries and sales offices in China, Japan, and America. We believe that we will consistently grow at the fastest pace in the Pan-Asia region while bringing to the world a brighter prospect with Motech’s core technologies and capacities.

In 2010, Motech achieved over 1.2GW production capacity, and reached to 2.0GW in the year of 2014. With the honor of this outstanding performance, Motech has been listed in the one of the top global cell manufacturers over years. In 2015, Motech and Topcell Solar International Co., Ltd.("TSi") passed the merger agreement. Through the merger, Motech became the world's largest professional manufacturer of photovoltaic cells with 3.2GW production capacity in 2016. In 2017, Motech joint venture with Giga Solar Materials, a major conductive paste supplier, to establish Taiwan Solar Module Manufacturing Corporation; TSMMC. In the same year, Motech Energy System Co. Ltd., formerly was known as Motech Power Business Center, is formed as a new subsidiary to step up expansion into the solar power plant industry.

Motech is listed on Taiwan's Over-the-Counter (OTC) market under 6244.
